Destination sketch

Mount Siguniangshan, also named Four Girls Mountain, is an AAAA National Park, which is well known for the adjacent mountains peaks: Dafeng (5025m), Erfeng (5276m), Sanfeng (5355m) and Yaomeifeng (6250m); and three main valleys: Shuangqiaogou, Changpinggou and Haizigou. It is one of perfect destinations in western Sichuan to plan a climbing tour to Dafeng and Erfeng or a hiking tour from Changpinggou to Bipenggou.

Qiang folk song

The folk songs of the Qiang people are primitive and unsophisticated, but they have a wide variety of songs. Different types of folk songs correspond to different festivals and atmospheres.

The folk dance of the Qiang nationality can be roughly divided into three types: self-entertainment, sacrifice, and ritual. Most Dai dances have the meaning of worshiping gods and praying for avoiding disasters.

Architectural style

Most of the Tibetan villages where the Gyarong Tibetans live are built in a place that is leeward and convenient. The overall architecture is unique. The houses in Zhangmu village changping valley are typical Gyarong Tibetan buildings.

Local Festival

 

Qiang New Year (the first day of October in Lunar calender)

During the Qiang’s New year, the entire event was very grand. The main activities included worshiping the gods and offering the gods, holding banquets and drinking alcohol, and helding various celebration activities. The general activities are held for three to five days, and some villages are still until the tenth day of October.

Turning around the mountain festival (May 4th to 6th in Lunar calender)

This day is the day when the four girls turn into mountains. Therefore, every year the villagers will wear costumes, bring ghee, alcohol, and other foods, come to Guozhaungping to worship the gods. After the completion of the worship, a variety of celebrations will be held. There are traditional sports competitions such as horse racing, wrestling, as well as large-scale song and dance performances.

Aircraft

The closest airport to Siguniang Mountain is Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. Visitors from other provinces can choose to fly directly to Chengdu and choose different modes of transportation to Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area.

Train

Xiaojin County does not have train station yet. Visitors can first arrive in Chengdu by train and then go to Chadianzi Coach Terminal to take a bus to Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area.

Chadianzi Bus Terminal is the only station in Chengdu that has a shuttle bus to Siguniang Mountain. Every day at 6:30, the fare is 163 yuan.

Taxi starting price is 3 yuan, 1.6 yuan per kilometer.

Chartered car

If you chartered from Chengdu to Siguniang Mountain, the per capita price is around 150 to 200 yuan. It takes 5 hours and the road is long and bumpy. If you are not sure about the driver’s driving skills, consider choosing a long-distance bus at the bus terminal for safety.

Mt. Siguniangshan

The Four Maiden’s Mountain (Mt. Siguniangshan) Scenic Area is an unspoiled wilderness park located in western Sichuan Province, near the town of Rilong in Aba Autonomous Prefecture. It’s 220 kilometers (about 136 miles) from Chengdu, and will take you about five or Six hours to reach by bus. The main attraction of this scenic spot is unspoiled natural beauty. The unusual shapes of the mountain peaks are rarely seen anywhere else in the world. The blue sky, clouds and mist, snow peaks, ancient cypress forests, Rushing waterfalls, and alpine meadows make this area a nature lovers dream. As the largest scenic area in Aba Autonomous Prefecture, the scenic area includes one mountain– Four Maiden’s Mountain, and three valleys-Two-Bridge (Shuangqiao) Valley, Long- Peace (Changping) Valley, and Alpine-Lake (Haizi) Valley.
Four Maiden’s Mountain consists of four adjacent mountain peaks. It got its unusual name from a local Tibetan legend that says the four peaks are the inclusive of four pretty girls. At 6,250 meters (about 20,500 feet), the highest peak, known as “the Little girl” is also called the ‘Queen Peak’ of Mt. Shu Shan in the Hengduan range. There is a higher ‘King Peak’ in Sichuan province but it is not in this area.
Four Maiden’s Mountain is famed for its steep and imposing ridges. The high meadows are gorgeous throughout the four seasons. Hundreds of wildflowers burst forth in spring, giving way to luxuriant green trees and grass in summer. In the fall, the leaves on the trees Blaze in color heralding the coming snows of winter. Because of the clear, blue sky, the thick forest, the verdant grassland, and the murmuring streams, it is sometimes known as the ‘Alps of the Orient’. Yin Yang Valley

The canyon is about 2500 meters long and the valley floor is about 20 to 50 meters wide, like the gate of Shuangqiao valley. During the day, sunlight can reach the canyon very quickly. In the morning, the sun shines to the left of the canyon, and in the afternoon to the right of the canyon.

Ginseng Fruit Ping

The ginseng fruit ping is the first large parking spot to enter Shuangqiao valley, which is 3300 meters above sea level. The majestic snow-capped mountains, vast meadows, meandering streams, rolling hills and varied clouds make up beautiful scenery.

Five color Mountain

Five color Mountain is a typical fold mountain. The whole mountain is composed of rocks of different colors. These rocks are rich in silicon, iron, zinc, tin and other minerals. Under certain sunshine conditions, they show red, yellow, green, blue, White and five colored bands.

Long-Peace (Changping) Valley

Gan haizi lake

There are two Gan Haizi lake scenic spots, namely Shanghaizi and Xiahaizi. The two Haizis used to have abundant water resources. Later, because of the diversion of rivers, both Haizis became swamps. Today, Haizi is not only a paradise for cattle and sheep, but also the most important base camp for Mt.Sungaishan Sanfeng and Sifeng.

Alpine-Lake (Haizi) Valley

Alpine-Lake (Haizi) Valley is named after the numerous alpine lakes it contains, including Flower Alpine-lake (Haizi), White Alpine-Lake (Haizi), Blue Alpine-Lake (Haizi) and Yellow Alpine-Lake (Haizi). One of the lakes, Flower Alpine-Lake (Haizi), was formed by glacial seepage during the 4th century. Visiting this valley is for people who have experience in mountaineering and exploration. The beautiful surrounding mountains are reflected in the lakes where the non-squama Yunguyu (a type of primitive fish), the living fossil of this land, can still be found. It is interesting that the boulders scattered along the lakes, look like swan eggs from a distance. Most of the lakes are 4,200 meters (about 13,650 feet) above sea level, so only a few tourists have visited them. But the few who have say that their beauty is staggering. If you are a true lover of wilderness, Alpine-Lake (Haizi) Valley is definitely worth a visit.

Flower Alpine-Lake

In spring and summer, when flowers bloom, Flower Alpine-Lake is like a plate of green jade sprinkled between flowers and plants.

Big Alpine-Lake

About 3,800 meters above sea level, it is the largest mountain lake in Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area. According to research, the Big Alpine-Lake was formed after the Quaternary glaciers subsided. Here is the migratory land of migratory birds, egrets, little egrets, and other migratory birds.

Chaoshanping

Chaoshanping, an elevation of 3,670 meters, covers an area of 300 acres and is surrounded by poplars, firs and other trees. Every year on this day, thousands of people will arrive in Chaoshanping to hold a grand”Chaoshan Meeting” from all directions.

Balang Mountain Scenic Area

The Balang Mountain is 5040 meters above sea level, and the road between the two is the most dangerous one on the eastern side of Aba. Sometimes, the thickness of the Balang Mountain cloud can reach 2,000 meters, and the altitude of the pass through the mountain is 4,523 meters. It is one of the famous high-altitude highways in China. As you drive past, you can enjoy the peaks and turns of the road between the ridges and feel the dangers of driving by car.

Arrival method: On the way to Siguniang Mountain, you will pass through the Balang Mountain, so the best way is to admire the scenery on the road. Take the shuttle bus from Chengdu to Rilong Town or Xiaojin.

Jinshan Scenic Area

Jiajin Mountain is the branch of the Qionglai Mountains. The main peak is 4,114 meters above sea level, and the top of the mountain is covered with snow all year round. The total area is 840 square kilometers, and there are well protected primeval forests. There are many kinds of precious wild animals and plants. There are golden monkeys, twisted antelopes, wildebeests, red deer, golden pheasant, wild thrush and other countries.

Camping in Mt. Siguniangshan

Siguniangshan has a total of three valleys, Changping valley, Haizi valley and Shuangqiao valley. Both Changping valley and Haizi valley can camp. Changping valley is the most beautiful, it not only has a beautiful virgin forest, there are more than 30 magnificent snow-capped mountains. The Muluozi, Kazigoukou, large platform (Yakou) and Kazigouwei of Changping valley, Haizigou’s Dahaizi and Huahaizi are suitable for camping.

There are a small number of Tibetan residents in the Jiajinshan Scenic Area offering bed and breakfast, about 15 yuan, and they can also choose guest houses and other hotels to stay at prices ranging from 40 to 80 yuan. It should be noted that there are special camping sites in the scenic spot. After entering the scenic spot, please observe the camping regulations and camp in fixed locations.
